Location

We are so excited to share our special day with friends and loved ones on February 20, 2022 in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico! After lengthy discussions on the location and time of year we finally landed on the idea of having a destination wedding in a tropical setting. Once that was decided we looked extensively at locations with direct flights and shorter travel times from the airport at a unique resort that had something for everyone. This is how we came to the agreement that Sandos Caracol Eco Resort was a great fit. And it’s All Inclusive!

There are several pools, the beach, a spa, and plenty of restaurant options on site. In addition, which was the selling point for us, there are cenotes (natural swimming holes) where you can snorkel, guided bike tours as well as snorkel tours on the river through their mangrove forest, walking paths through the property with plenty of wildlife to view, an aqua park with 17 slides ranging in levels for all ages, and nightly entertainment. They even have some small Mayan ruins on site. If you choose to venture outside of the resort you can take a short taxi ride to Playa Del Carmen’s 5th Avenue to explore the shops/restaurants or take a 30 minute ferry ride over to Cozumel. There are also half and full day tours to places such as the Mayan ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza, Xel-Ha Aqua Park, ATV and zipline adventures, and cenote/snorkeling excursions. Even though the main event is the wedding we still want everyone to create their own vacation as they wish, whether that be within the All-Inclusive resort or beyond.

Please refer to the “Itinerary” page where you can see our travel plans and the “Things to Do” page for excursion ideas/links. As we get closer to the date we will be adding a few times and locations were people can meet up at the resort if they so desire since it’s a large property, but by no means will there be an extensive timeline. This is vacation!

**We highly recommend looking through the entire Sandos Caracol website because it contains quite a bit of useful information**

Things to Do/Excursions

The Mayan Riviera is a beautiful stretch of Mexico between Cancun, where the Int’l airport is located, down to the ancient city of Tulum. Our wedding location at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort is 32 miles south of Cancun and just 2 ½ miles north of downtown Playa Del Carmen.

The town center, including the shops and dining of Playa’s 5th Avenue, is just a short taxi ride away from the resort which can be arranged in the lobby of the resort.

If you wish to jet over to the island of Cozumel there are ferry rides (approx. 30 mins.) that run throughout the day. All the details can be found here:

When looking to book excursions or day trips visit this link through the Sandos Caracol website to explore your options:

*These types of activities tend to book up so if a couple or a group of people decide on an off-resort adventure it’s recommended to plan ahead and make a reservation before arriving.

Wedding Attire/What to Bring

The ceremony will be held on the deck over the main cenote followed by the cocktail hour and reception on the beach! Considering the environment this is a “dressy casual” event and once we are down on the beach you may not even want to wear shoes 😊

All restaurants on the premises are casual, although they recommend “smart casual” clothing for the à la carte options.

Please let either Bryan or Christi know if you need any clarification or have any questions.

Itinerary

More to come, but this is a very basic outline as to when we will be at the resort.

Registry

At this time we don’t have anything specific to mention other than the fact that we frequent Home Depot and Target 😊

Our Love Story

Bryan and Christi met in the magical setting *wink* of Bank of the West while Christi was training at the Columbine Branch where Bryan worked. After her return two weeks later for additional training Bryan asked Christi out for dinner at Romano’s Italian Restaurant on November 9th, 2017. Exactly three years later Bryan proposed to Christi at The Melting Pot in downtown Littleton on November 9th, 2020…and she said “YES”! The couple loves to spend time on home improvement and yard projects (truly!), cooking and traveling. They have visited Whidbey Island, WA on several occasions where Christi’s parents Mike and Wendy Waitt live, California (including Disneyland multiple times, Grandpa MG’s house and Palm Desert), a cruise from New Orleans to Mexico for Brandon and Megan Boling’s wedding, and of course camping and mountain retreats in Colorado with Bryan’s extended family. Many, many more adventures await!
